The word derives from J.R.R. Tolkien's universe, referring to hobbits - being half the size of human beings, but otherwise the same in appearance. I am not a hobbit, but I am a halfling. I'm half of two wholes. Stuck in the space between two spaces.

The project halfling is important to me. I have this urge to explore and to share a part of me that has been both beautiful and painful growing up. My life is an endless journey through dualities, that has opened some doors and shut others. I know some people find my existence scary because I am a result of two ethnic origins combined. The distinct features are blended out. I find my own existence poetically beautiful, because it's a testament of how two worlds can become one.

Much like Tolkien's Bilbo Baggins, who went on adventures to explore the unknown world around him, I too am longing to explore the unknown. While Bilbo's unknown was the world outside, my unknown dwells within. halfling is about self-exploration and documentation. It's an introspective journey about roots, the space I inhabit, memories and relationships.
